 This 4 class session will “start at the beginning” to teach the very basics.Participants will be able to learn poses with detailed instruction at their own pace -a great start for anyone who wants to try yoga.  After attending Absolute Beginner classes participants are prepared to continue their yoga practice in another weekly class.

Yoga Class Descriptions

Beginner and Gentle Yoga: A slower paced class for those who are newer to yoga and/or want to focus on the basic poses, breathing, stretching, strengthening and relaxation in a comfortable, non-judgmental atmosphere, and at your own pace.

All Levels:   This class is suited to all levels of yogis, offering instruction and choices for beginners and also opportunities to choose more challenging options for intermediate level yogis to increase the level of intensity.  The practice is a mix of focus on learning proper technique and safe transitions, and then implementing into various flow sequences to strengthen and stretch the entire body, followed by floor work, stretching and relaxation.

Beginner and All Levels:  This 45 minute class will include warm up, basic work, then stretching and relaxation.  
*
All Levels Power:  This is a fitness/power class suited to all levels, practicing basic poses with extra focus on fitness and strengthening the upper body and core muscles, followed by stretching and relaxation.  Be prepared to sweat.

Yin Yoga:  Yin yoga practice targets tendons, ligaments and fascia within the body. Each posture is held for long periods of time to encourage slow and safe opening of connective tissues.   Although Yin yoga is a more passive practice it can be quite challenging Yin yoga classes involve a relaxed practice of floor postures that are held from three to five minutes at a time, with focus on the feeling in targeted joints/connective tissue.  A perfect antidote to stress and a great complement to more active styles of yoga.
Open to all levels of students.  Please note this is not a Restorative Yoga class.

Intermediate Variations:
A strong working knowledge and experience with the basic poses is required.  We will be adding more challenging variations and options for strength, flexibility and balance, and styles of yoga.  Students will be encouraged to make choices to develop their yoga practice towards Advanced at their own pace.

Prenatal Yoga:
Our prenatal classes are specifically designed to provide a safe and supportive environment for mamas-to-be to practice yoga.  Through physical yoga practice, breathing techniques, relaxation and meditation, we will safely strengthen and stretch to prepare for the expectant mother’s changing body.  In this positive and supportive environment, you will learn techniques to connect with your body, mind and Baby.

Intermediate/All Levels Active Vinyasa Flow:  This class will maintain a steady flowing yoga workout for a balance of muscle flexibility, strengthening and stamina, with focus on flowing through our pose sequences, uniting movement with breath.   Participants should be familiar with basic pose technique to move into and transition out of each pose with safe technique and alignment. Variations and options will be given for each pose and transition so participants can work at their own desired pace and style.  Be prepared to sweat.

Restorative Yoga:  In Restorative Yoga participants “consciously relax” the entire body in fully supported floor poses, remaining present and observing the release, letting go of any goals, and just allowing full relaxation for healing and restoration.

New to Yoga?

Here is some information that may be helpful
- Wear bare feet and loose comfortable clothing.  Longer shorts/swseat pants and a t-shirt are fine.
- If you do not have a yoga mat yet, the studio has mats you can borrow.  The studio also provides yoga blocks and straps you may wish to use.
- It is best not to practice yoga on a full stomach.
- Drinking water an hour or so before class will help you to not become thirsty during class.  However, you can bring a water bottle with you if you wish.
- A small hand towel may be helpful as an extra small prop for your neck, knees, etc.
- Please do not chew gum during class.  This can interfere with breathing, distract the other students, and possibly be a safety hazard in some poses. 

In consideration for your fellow participants:
- Some people arrive early to class to relax or meditate.  Please talk quietly before class so as not to disturb the other students.
- We all try to be on time for class, but if you are late and class has started, please come into the studio quietly.
- Some people are very allergic scents.  In consideration for these individuals, please do not apply scented products prior to yoga class.
- Please remember to turn off your cell phone when you come into the studio.   If you need to leave your phone on because you are "on call" - just let the teacher know before class.

Parking:  There is free parking around us on the street and avenue; signs indicate 2 or 3 hour free parking.  There is also free parking right beside us in the SGI parking lot after 5pm every day.  Please note the spots around our building marked "24 Hour Private Parking" are not ours.  Thank you.

Namaskar Yoga Refund Policy for 6 – 8 week yoga class sessions per class per week
- More than 14 days notice of cancellation and request for refund: $5
- Less than 14 days notice of cancellation and request for refund: Administration fee $10
- After beginning attendance, a pro-rated refund will be given if a doctor's certificate is provided.
- If Namaskar Yoga Studio cancels/reschedules a class a full refund will be given.
